Torchlight Tax is Hiring Now and for 2024

This is Dave Horwedel, EA and Founder of Torchlight Tax.

We are now hiring EAs and CPAs who can crank out tax returns and/or do IRS Representation. Remote positions are available in addition to in-house positions.

If you have your own tax practice but would like some part-time tax work to keep you busy, we can likely accommodate you.

We are also hiring support staff for our EAs and CPAs. These positions are not currently remote.

Full-time, part-time and contractor positions are available. We generally use Drake, Thomas Reuters, and Pitbull Tax Software. Familiarity with these software programs is an advantage, but not mandatory.

The best support staff are usually tax preparers, bookkeepers, and payroll tax experts. We offer a training and apprenticeship program where these can become EAs or CPAs expert in tax preparation and IRS Representation.

This is an excellent career path.

Our main offices are in the Las Vegas Valley, but we also have an office in Clearwater Florida.

We plan to open more offices.

If you might be interested in a career in the tax field, please contact us by calling us at 1 (877) 758-7797 or emailing

If you know someone who might be interested, please refer them to us. You’re welcome to forward this article to others.

For income tax preparers, we are interested in those who would like to become enrolled agents or CPAs and those who already are. The Enrolled Agent, by the way, is the highest federal tax credential. Currently we have administrative staff here in my office who are training to become enrolled agents as their career path while doing administrative work that also gives them experience in tax.

One last thing. The idea that the tax field is only seasonal is not true. If you want to work just during the tax season and take the rest of the year off, that’s fine.

However, in our firm, we have year-round tax work.  This is because:

1. We do regular marketing.

2. Many taxpayers file for a six month extension.

3. Different tax returns have different due days.

4. Tax Amendments and the filing of back taxes are often done outside of tax Season.

5. Bookkeeping and Payroll run year round.

6. IRS letters, tax levies, tax liens and IRS debt settlement run year round.

If you’d like to work around the year in your career, we have that work here for you.

If you would like to work only during tax season, or have a hybrid schedule where you work less hours after tax season that works.

I’m looking to hire people who would like to have an excellent career.
