Prenups versus Trusts, which one is best?
Prenuptial agreements and trusts are two ways of shielding assets from potential loss in a divorce.
I am Jim Daloisio, Director of Legal Services at Torchlight Tax.
If you place your assets into a proper asset protection trust in a proper jurisdiction before marriage and keep these trust assets separate, this is very strong asset protection. Pre-nuptial agreements can also be strong, but they can create pre-nuptial upsets and are subject to interpretation in a divorce court.
You probably do not want to think about or talk to your fiancé about potential divorce before marriage. It can start things out on the wrong foot.
If you have considerable assets, you should have an asset protection trust anyway.

A little planning can save a lot of trouble.
